History In The Making

You may now call us Mommy & Daddy!

We’re back. And a busy month, it has been. We just wanted to let you know what’s been going on with us the last few weeks & this summer.

We’ve updated pics of Sydney & separated them into Hospital, Home, & First Photo Shoot (thanks to Grandpa & Grandma Silber for setting up a mock studio in Syd’s room). See the link on her birth announcement below for the hospital album (which includes some pics of her brief bout with jaundice) or go to the gallery using the link to the right. Further albums of her will follow.

Also, we’ve neglected to make news, some other important happenings this summer. They are as follows:

First: Congratulations to Colby White, Victoria Silber, Lucy Reese, & Josh Koeppel for graduating from the Universiy of Iowa and Iowa City High back in the spring. Go to the gallery to see pics of those special events.

Second: Iowa State Fair time has come & gone, but there are no shortages of memories. Congratulations to Leigh Lussie (friend of Grandma White) for receiving a first place ribbon and Judge’s Award for her beautiful handmade quilt. Leigh annually enters magnificent quilts in the state fair competition. Congratulations Leigh! Here’s a link to the state fair album and a preview of “The Quilt”.

Third: We took a fun-filled trip to one of Des Moines’ premiere attractions, Living History Farms, with Rachel’s sister, Kate, and aunt & uncle, Hillary & Peter, just one week prior to Sydney’s arrival. I was the only one that had been there (I believe) and everyone had a great time. See the album in the gallery for pictures.

Fourth: What August would be complete without the Fair.. and my birthday, of course! This year, Rachel opened her bag of tricks and threw me a surprise party at one of my favorite places, Chuck-E-Cheese. Thanks, Hon, it was a great surprise. See the album in the gallery for pictures.

And last, but not least, thank you to everyone for all of your genuine concern for our well being over the last month. We appreciate everyone’s support and hope you enjoy this site & use it to keep in touch. Please let us know if you have any news you would like us to share with friends & family and don’t forget to leave us comments on our posts for all to read (mrt@iowawhites.com). Also, as noted above, it’s easiest if you right click on the gallery link to the right and “Open In New Window” so you still have this web page open and you won’t have to “Go Back” 100 times to get back here.

  1. Dearest Rachel, Taylor, Sydney and Watson,

We are excited to see the new images on your beautiful family website, including the first portrait session of Sydney that Grandma Marion and I were so honored to do in Des Moines. You have given us a beautiful grandaughter - what an incredible gift! Thank you! Sydney is perfect and beautiful, and we look forward to spending wonderful hours and days with her during the year. You are far from us in miles, but always close to us in spirit and thought.

As the proud Dad of four cherished daughters, I’m proud of you both for the fine parents you have so quickly become. Sydney is lucky to have parents who love her with all their hearts, and love each other as well. Together with Whatty, you make a beautiful and special family. May God bless you all, every day, and keep a watchful eye over our newest little family member.

Your website has inspired me to start our own personal website. I’ll let you know when it is ready and online. I especially like how you use your website to talk about not only yourselves, but all the family members and friends that you love and whom are a part of your busy and fun-filled lives.

I need to get back to work here at the studio. Thanks again for the new photographs - we will keep checking the website for more. Give Sydney a kiss and Whatty a doggy treat from all of us. We love you all.

Grandpa Gary, Grandma Marion, Aunt Wyeth and “Little Uncle Scooter.”
